Remodeling on a Budget

Wanting to remodel your home is something every homeowner goes through, but when you’re on a budget it can make everything more difficult, not to mention frustrating. If you’re overwhelmed with the costs of remodeling different aspects of your house, the following tips will help you choose the right changes. Little changes in your house make a significant different in the style and feel of your home, adding functionality, and changing the theme of your décor. The following remodeling projects help you to have a brand new home while on a budget.

Re-Organize

One remodeling project people don’t consider to be a big change is changing your storage options, but it actually makes a huge difference. Adding storage possibilities in your home and changing the way things are organized makes a significant impact in the way your house is run. What’s better, is storage doesn’t have to be expensive! If you already have bookshelves, use them to your advantage by purchasing inexpensive fabric-sided bins. These can be used for anything from cookbooks to kitchen utensils, or placed in your kid’s rooms for toys and games. The options are endless and it I a remodeling project that doesn’t cost a lot of money or time.

Upgrade Your Lighting

Another inexpensive way to remodel your home is by changing the lighting options. This can be as simple as replacing old lamps with new ones, or simply decorating the lampshades you currently have. There are many ways to dress up plain lamp shades and add an entirely new look; from fabric flowers to covering them in ribbon or stenciling the shades, the options are endless. If you have more electrical experience, you can also replace the fixtures in your home, such as changing out the pendant lights, sconces, or bathroom lighting fixtures.

Shop Clearance

Most home improvement and hardware stores have a clearance section. Your nearby Lowe’s will have an entire section dedicated to blinds and window treatments, rugs, and tiles that are on sale. Some of them are more than 50% off. So instead of struggling to buy a $400 area rug for your living room, you get one for a little over $100. It makes a big difference and you can use the clearance items as a starting point for the remodeling projects you will take on.

Paint

Adding color to your home is an easy project that doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Instead of completely removing and installing new cabinetry in your kitchen or bathroom, you can just paint over the ones you have and replace the hardware. This gives the look of brand new cabinets and you haven’t spent nearly as much money as if they were completely replaced.
