Wood Designs Add Modern, Warm Beauty to Any Home

Modern designers have been particularly interested in using natural wood to create clean and beautiful lines within the home. Natural wood is a great contrast to metal, stone and crisp white interiors. Wood can also become the main event in any home, but there are ways that it can look too minimalist or even be an overbearing presence on your home's interior design. Still, there are some designs that can help you utilize your space better.

1. Making a Statement

Natural wood will nicely show off any part of your home. At the front walkway, some have chosen to create hallways from natural wood or creating a mosaic piece in the foyer. The wood allows you to see the vision of your home, while balancing out the crisp white walls and other textures, such as rough stone or sleek metal.

2. Creating an Accent Wall

You can use multiple colors and finishes to create an accent wall. Scrap wood makes a perfectly good material to work with to recreate the accent wall. You can place these in your dining room, in a transitional hallway, in the family room, or other area to offset lighting and art.

3. Wooden Headboards

You don't have to be too fancy to do much with natural wood either. A simple headboard that matches other wooden accents in the room will also be a charming touch. Natural wood can also be cut very thin so it won't take up too much space in your bedroom.

4. That 70s Feeling

So you want to avoid the retro wood ceiling but you can't help but thinking how it would look. Natural wood really doesn't resemble the old wooden ceilings from the 1970s. It's actually much cleaner and you can use the wood in a variety of different ways so that it doesn't have to be so overbearing to look at. You can also make designs with the natural wood and use lighting to make it pop. In addition, you want to have enough ceiling height to be able to use wood.

5. Rugged Countertops

Natural wood with a rustic finish can look extremely posh for a countertop in a kitchen with sleek modern appliances. A large slab of wood can really create the industrial kitchen. You also want to make sure that you do some research on using wood in the kitchen, as it can stain easily.
