Creating a Holiday Themed Headboard

If you are entertaining guests this year and plan on allowing them to stay within the bedrooms of your household, you may want to consider the option of personalizing the headboards of the beds for the holidays. For many people, it’s a common assumption that headboards have to be used as a separate item of the bedroom set. However, one of the most popular and creative options is to build your headboard or decorate it separately while allowing it its own unique presence on the wall instead. These wall headboards are quick, easy to make, and can have a powerful visual statement when they are done correctly.

If the individual plans on using a premade headboard, these tend to be the most easy to decorate and customize for the holidays. Buying panels of wood or a similar material, individuals can begin by cutting and creating portions that can cover the original area. This option is necessary if the individual wants to be able to switch out their decoration ideas over the period of the year or after the holidays have ended. However, people who plan on using a style that can be enjoyed throughout the year can decorate directly on their headboard. Once this has been achieved, there are many ways that individuals can use to decorate these areas. Painting the areas with seasonal colors and putting holiday designs on them tends to be the easiest option. Using stencils is a great way to get cute or beautiful holiday related designs onto the headboard without having to stress about getting that professional qualify of perfection. Another option is to decoupage various pictures or family photos onto the area to create something that is more of an heirloom than anything else.

Those who do not have a headboard or would like to mimic this style without investing in a headboard can simply create a similar effect by using the wall behind their bed. The key is to place the wood materials on the bed in areas where it will make it seem as if there is a dimensional surface behind the bed. When this illusion has been created properly, it provides individuals with opportunities for a variety of design styles. A popular style that looks great with this option is to have stenciled wood cutouts applied to various areas of the wall with a holiday theme, whether they are snowflakes or other related seasonable styles.
