Making Your Own Holiday Garland

One of the most memorable aspects of any of the holiday decorations, aside from the Christmas lights, is the use of garland. The unfortunate part of this is that over the years, garland has become increasingly expensive. Although the basic styles still remain to be fairly cheap, using some of the more deluxe styles which feature various decorations and accessories within the leaves tends to be more expensive. If you plan on putting several strands of garland throughout your home, it can cost well into hundreds of dollars, which can truly put a damper on your holiday celebration if you are trying to save money for Christmas presents or any of the other elements that you will be using to entertain your guests. As a result, the best alternative is to consider making your own garland instead.

You can make your own garland by investing in a few of the most basic styles of Christmas garland that is available at your local store. Since these don’t have any extra accessories or decorations added to their design, they tend to be fairly cheap. This is where you have the option of becoming creative and making unique garland sets that will specific only to their use within your home. If you are the type of person who prefers garland with small decorations in it, you can stop by your local 99 cent store or other related discount store and pick up some of their tiniest decorations. These can be added into your garland with wire and provide the same style of deluxe garlands for a fraction of the price.

Alternatively, if you are one of the people who prefers to have garland that is full of lights, this can be as simple as investing in another light set. Simply weave and wrap the lights throughout the garland before you hang it up for display. Generally, this is superior to most of the deluxe garlands that you can purchase in the store because making your garland with a separate light set ensures that you can use lights which display in certain patterns, change colors, or even turn themselves off or on according to a timer. The key towards creating your own garland and having it work to the most optimal extent is to be as creative as possible. Think about elements that you can add in for cheap that will still produce that luxurious and impressive effect that your family and friends long for.
