DIY Bathroom

The bathroom is notoriously one of the most difficult areas in a home to remodel. The rooms are generally small and there is generally not a lot that can be done with a bathroom. However, here are a few do-it-yourself bathroom decor projects that can change the look and feel of the bathroom without breaking a budget.

Magnetic Make up Board

A quick and easy way to clean up the bathroom and began changing the bathroom decor is to create a magnetic make up board. This is a very simple do-it-yourself project that will keep makeup organized and out-of-the-way and off of the counter. Simply use a magnetic or metal frame. You can take it a step up and use a metal radiator cover with filigree design work found at any hardware store. Attached magnetic pieces, usually found intick on magnetic strips in office supply stores or home improvement stores, to the back of makeup containers. Attach the make up to you the metal frame or board and hang on the inside of the cabinet door or on the inside of a medicine chest.

Backsplash

Do-it-yourself bathroom decor can be created with a simple backsplash technique. Using waterproofed and field tiles, broken glass or broken dishes you can create an innovative and unique backsplash. In order to create a safe backsplash using broken glass or dishes or tiles you should remember to sand down and smooth off any rough edges and create a flat surface with the design pattern. The dishes, tiles or glass can be from anything in your home or from a thrift store. A simple grout mixture will connect the pieces into a mosaic design.

Flooring

Flooring is a quick and easy do-it-yourself project that can be handled over a weekend and can be budget effective. By creating a new tile floor, vinyl floor or hard wood floor in the bathroom you can change the entire look of the bathroom itself. With the new and innovative flooring designs and mosaic designs for bathrooms found at home improvement stores, the projects can take on a personalized feel and change the view of the room.

Paint and Removable Decals

A simple paint job combined with removable decals can change the effect of the bathroom completely. By choosing a solid base coat and removable decals that depict different scenes such as ocean scenes, nature scenes or what ever scene you find appealing you can change the look of a bathroom in as little as an afternoon. Remember when purchasing paint for bathrooms and the removable decals to make sure that they are bathroom safe and can stand up to humidity and damp conditions.
